Yuris's Night, a celebration of Yuri Gagarin's (and humanity's) first flight into space, is on April 12.That's also about ten days before I leave for the Arctic. There's only one conclusion to draw:

PARTY TIME!!

I'd like to point out to those of my dear friends who just groaned that, although there will be space-related geekiness, there will be no haggis or poetry reading in Scots. So, relatively speaking, you're getting off lightly. Plus, I'm thinking of putting a lamb in the pig box.

If you're reading this blog and you know where I live1, you're invited!

1A total of approximately three people.

I can't make it. I'm here in the lamb down under.

Ooooh, pig box lamb! That's almost worth selling the baby for a plane ticket. (No baby yet, btw...but any day now!) Wish we could be there. Let us know if you need any mainland supplies for the trip!

Can you get Wine Gums in Utah? I know the answer is probably "no" but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Our intern has developed a taste for them, and I can't get them here. If you stumble across any when you aren't shooting things or planning horrific parties, please buy them and I will reimburse.

I don't know about wine gums, but I think we need to bring a live polar bear to the party. All I need is a dart gun, a crate, Big Red to help carry the crate, Pascal to help carry Big Red, and a ton of jujubees to attract a bear. (Bears love jujubees, especially when they are human-flavored...). We'll also need to get a cute party hat for the bear. Should we knit him one?

I was going to say that Pascal has already done his fair share of carrying BR, however, that was last year! I think he contractually has to carry Big Red around at least once a year in order to continue receive friendship payment from me.

If you cook lamb in the pig box you'd better warn any one who's trying to keep kosher. But maybe we could wrap the lamb in crackling??

Yum. Pilamb.

That starts with p.

I know where you live. I, in fact, am living where you live. And yet I can't come. DAMNIT.

Wine gums. Utah's answer to, um, wine.

I'll see what I can do.

Thank you. The intern is hot - you'd want to make him happy.

I got the polar bear! It took a long bout of wrestling that got somewhat uncomfortable at times, but the point is we will have a bear for the party. The polar bear's name is Yuri.
Yuri said: "I love astronauts. Much better than chicken! (But not as good as duck)"

Tim,

Sorry, there was a typo in the invitation. It should have read "bring your own *beer*".

Now Yuri is someone I'd love to celebrate! great idea. Count us in.

shall we be bringing "keep-kim-sane" ideas/donations?

p.s. that's a hottie profile pic!

I wrestled a polar bear for nothing? OK, I'll take Yuri back to the North Pole but he's not going to be happy about missing the party. He had his party outfit all picked out! Maybe I'll feed him Rudy and Gino to keep him happy. Here doggie doggie...

KKS donations always welcome!

Unrecognizably hot profile pics are a mainstay of blogging, and I expect this one to last me at least thirty years.
